Independence Day!

SMIDGE OF THIS
July 4th! I have to say that this was the quietest Independence Day we've had in a while!

No parades, no fanfare, nothing crazy, BUT we did have a nice family-oriented day at home. In the morning, Ian took both girls out to buy a bird feeder, get my van washed for me, and pick up some groceries. And later after a family lunch and nap, the girls came downstairs to see a backyard with lots of fun things set up -- a water table, baby pool, and slip & slide (or "slipping slide" as Camille calls it).

Ian grilled out wings and hot dogs while I snuggled Lochlan and the girls played. Later we chatted with a neighbor who fought in Vietnam. I feel proud to say that while putting out American flags at our mailbox and in our front planters the other day, Ian also walked a flag over to his mailbox and put it there for him. I thought it was such a sweet and thankful gesture.

So, continue on with too many photos of my kids in cute patriotic clothes that they basically just wore in our backyard. Maybe another year we will do some crazy fun activities, but I have to say that it was a quiet, special and sweet day at home with my little family.
